Key Personnel
Steven W. Stafford, P.E., C.P.B.D.
Mr. Stafford is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia and North Carolina. He is the President of Cornerstone Design Group, Inc. as well as Cornerstone Design Group of North Carolina, Inc. Mr. Stafford received his Certified Professional Building Designer (CPBD) designation in 2010. He is a 1989 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute with a B.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structural and mechanical engineering. Mr. Stafford’s twenty years of professional experiences span both the private and public sector, and include a wide array of successful project management, fiscal stewardship principles, technical specifications, practical design solutions and construction administration skills. He is a member of many national and local organizations, including PHBA, VBCOA, ASCE, AIBD, ACI, and SEI.
Mr. Stafford understands the impact of applying skills learned in workplace settings in efforts to assist the community at large. Believing in the values of classical, Christ-centered education, he has lent his talents to helping shape and direct the vision of Providence Classical School of Williamsburg, Virginia. He has served in many leadership capacities with the school since 2004, beginning as the Board Treasurer and most recently just completing a two-year term as Board Chairman/President. In 2007, Mr. Stafford spent ten days in the Ghana region of Africa as part of a missions team where he was able to bring his engineering knowledge to assist in the building of a potable water system for a remote village. While in Ghana, the team was able to travel to several villages and meet with the local residents and see first hand how their efforts will assist in improving their daily lives.
Carolyn D. Herman, P.E.
Ms. Herman is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia. Ms. Herman is a 1989 graduate of Rutgers University College of Engineering with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Upon graduation from college, she began a successful career in the United States Navy serving in such capacities as a Project Engineer, Civil Engineer and a Public Works Officer, Naval Officer in the Civil Engineer Corps. Ms. Herman has been a Project Engineer with Cornerstone Design Group, Inc. since 2004.
